Rickenbacker Bass - No return policy question

Post by gjg59 »

I am not a Bass player, but wonder why I always see that Ric Basses are not returnable in catalogs, but there is no disclaimer for guitars. I was just wondering why. I am thinking, maybe they get purchased for Photo shoots or auditions, then returned. I hear that Ric Basses are the best out there. Ric has competition for nice guitars, but maybe they are the king of Basses.???????

Everyone knows that we bass players are though of like the Caddies in Caddy Shack (remember they only got the pool for 15 min)... But really when you have a Ric bass, why would you want to return it anyhow?? There are a lot of good basses out there, but the Ric basses are the top of the line IMHO.

Gerry, in who's "catalog" do you find that?

RIC's policy is the same for guitars and basses. It can only be sold as new one time.

This is, of course, a dealer policy, not ours.

Legally no product can be sold more than once as "new"; returned items should be sold as "open box" or similarly designated. We're probably more aggressive at enforcing this with dealers through the warranty policy than other makers which might be the reason for this but really it tells you more about the dealer's practices than anything.

Maybe it's the odometers on the guitars- you can see their mileage.

I just bought a 78 360 with only 16 miles on it. I just hope they didn't rollback the odometer.

It probably just went all the way around, Glenn.

It does seem a little odd that they'd state that for the basses, but not guitars.

And here I was, constantly changing strings thinking that it would go back to 0.

I thought that one needed to play songs backwards to roll the odometers back ... Image
