Mannnnn, I like that alot, I've been looking for one. Reminds me of my very first Rick. Mine had chrome hardware though.
Hmmmm.....your a big fan of 4004's arent you Jeff? You dont have a CII do you?
Does it have any "bridge lift"? Seems like the black bridges are prone to that.

the tailpiece has a small amount of lift ... the black trim parts seem to be weaker and more prone to rust than chrome parts ...
as per drilling holes in my new bass and converting it to a 5 string ... well guys as a 4 string bass it is pretty much useless to me ... it is just a piece of wood with some metal parts and some nice white paint ... I bought it to play it ... not to collect it and then sell it for a profit later ... I buy stocks for investment ... I buy basses to play ...

I tried BEAD, DGCF, DADG, Eflat ... none of them is as good as BEADG ... the second best option to a 5 string bass was DGCF ... but then I had several songs that needed a low D flat ... BEAD tuning messed up head too much ... I used to have a jazz bass tuned DGCF and I loved playing that bass ... and I had a p-bass tuned e flat ...
My white 4003 has a W0 serial number ... it was sold on ebay 3-25-05 by derailer for $1235 ... I got it for $1300 last month ...
I go up the neck a lot on my 5 string basses ... I play the high A, B, C, D and stretch the high E flat up to E

Jeff your white/bt is an Oct. 97 and mine was a Nov. 97, weird how they changed the first two letters to month/year instead of year/month like the older ones. Since this bass is very clean and is a rare color perhaps you could go to the extra expense of filling/redrilling the top holes so it looks like a S/5, that headstock could probably be refinned to hide the plugs and be worth the effort down the road.
