Should be retitled 18 tracks inspired by the Byrds and one that inspired The Byrds.

I refer of course to the inclusion of When You Walk In The Room by The Searchers

Roy: When You Walk In The Room is a great 1960s recording and, according to Mike Pender at least, the Rickenbacker 12 string was chosen for the lead riff. Apparently Curtis and Pender wanted to capitalize on the Rickenbacker sound and who can blame them.

It seems to me, that "Needles and Pins", by the Searchers of course, may have inspired the Byrds even moreso than "When You Walk In The Room". I say that as the opening riff from Needles and Pins is very close to the one later used in "Feel A Whole Lot Better" released by The Byrds.

I was simply reading from the CD artwork insert when I was describing the disc. A great song none-the-less and I'm sure it had some influence on the Byrds.

Not critiscing you Jeff at all, apoligies if it came across like that, as a staunch Searchers fan, just "prickled " me somewhat, I like The Byrds also, more early Byrds and I take Peter's valid point which is spot on, in some articles I have written I feel that it was Terry Melcher who was inspired by Walk In The Room in particular that opening Bass riff for that song, for me Byrds version of Tanbourine Man was enhanced by too by the opening Bass riff which grabbed one's attention.
