Beautiful Autumnglo on bay

Ted: Cool! Mine's from Jan. of '78. They do look pretty similar, the sunburst on yours looks a little more dramatic.

Harry: Yeah, my dog tends to try to eat anything she doesn't recognize. It was pretty fortuitous that she started chewing when I was in the middle of snapping pics. And too bad that the quilt wasn't included, it did match pretty well!

Paul: An excellent point. I actually took the belt off for that reason right after the pics and before the serious playing. Hell, I'd take my pants off to make sure it doesn't get scratched. Now that'd be a rock & roll show.

Mine is an '80 and I have had it since about '81.

There are several of us around Chicago. Jeff Thomas and Bill Henshell are here too. Paul Boyer is nearby in Cheeseland.

Monty brown is a much better brown IMHO. I have one Autumnglo and one Walnut (or do you say Walnutglo). While I love 'em both, Monty is much prettier than either of the other two.

Ah yes, but WHICH Monty brown?

I had a 2005 and it was the sweetest BLENDED guitar I've ever owned, but the neck was HUGE.

I now have a 2006 with a much friendlier neck, but it is MUCH darker around the edges and not blended as well as the earlier one.

I have to admit, the Autumn glo is stunning, but I like a GLOSS on a bass, so I guess my search has ended! Looks like Walnut for me.

Each Rick is unique. The bursts vary with the sprayer's technique. I like 'em all. That policy keeps it simple.

Nice bass Jake! My first Rickenbacker bass (long since gone

), was a Walnut.
Keep the dog away from it though. No damage was done, but this is what I discovered one day...

My Monty goes from a Mapleglo in the centre to a gorgeous reddy brown at the edges. The blending is lovely. Very smooth. Looks really red on stage. Spell binding!!!

Steve, you should get your pooch a lefty bass to bang on -- that's probably the issue there (unless that's some kind of tapping technique).

Good to hear there's a bunch of Chicagoans around here. I took several years off from bands (though I do sing in an a cappella group), but I'm just getting back into the local scene.

I think the Montys look great, too, I just had my heart set on a bass made sometime close to 8/77.
