Pete is playing a guitar that is obviously not a Rickenbacker but has a Rickenbacker nameplate affixed to its headstock and three Rickenbacker pickups.

It's actually a Grimshaw guitar, with a Rick TRC.

It was by most accounts a wicked good guitar. It got lost or stolen or smashed at some point. But what makes me wonder is: why did he bother to put a Rick TRC on it?

The slant of the pickups is certainly unique.

Well I thought something looked rather odd about the sound hole in the upper bout.

Big deal, it's not that confusing. I think I read somewhere that his guitar tech would collect the leftover parts from his smashed guitars. The pickups were used, and then the nameplate, because someone thought it would look cool or simply to cover the truss rod.
