It was by most accounts a wicked good guitar. It got lost or stolen or smashed at some point. But what makes me wonder is: why did he bother to put a Rick TRC on it?

Big deal, it's not that confusing. I think I read somewhere that his guitar tech would collect the leftover parts from his smashed guitars. The pickups were used, and then the nameplate, because someone thought it would look cool or simply to cover the truss rod.
