I've been using Hartke cabs for years. I started with the 4x10 Transporter, later added a 1x15 XL series, and recently upgraded to a 4X10 with a 4.5 tweeter.Great sound, very dependable and durable.

I've never used the Hartke cabs, but I have used a Hartke HA4000 400wt head on the road. It did pretty good. Power amp was great, the pre-amp was so-so. It really sounded great though when I hooked it up with a SansAmp Bass Driver. I used a Carvin 1x15 cab that sounded great and was tough as nails. I play Ampeg now.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

I have an older Transporter 4X10 cab which sounds incredible with my '76 Ampeg B25 55 watt head. It's plenty loud too. It used to buzz a bit. I then figured out that it was the voice coil dust caps that were loose. I reglued them in place and it sounded like new again. I still need to fix one of the dust caps.

Sometimes I think it sounds better than my SVT rig!

I've even seen someone blow the stock speaker of a 1400 at a show. Can't remember if they used distortion or had very loud pickups, I think the amp was turned up very high though. I think I have heard of other cases.

The amp itself was fine, and I really like their amps (the sound, portability of the heads).

With a 55 watt head and 4 speakers it should be fine I guess.

If I remember correctly, the Transporter was the lower end of the line. The salesman at Sam Ash told me to go the few extra bucks for the XL series, and I'd never regret it. I though it was just a sales pitch, but from what I hear about the Transporter series, I'm glad I listened to him.

I have a 3500 head, a 4 X 10 XL and a 15" XL bottom.

I had a minor problem with a buzz when it was new, way back when there were made in the USA. I went to the factory, they fixed it in like 3 minutes.
I've been using it for YEARS and NEVER had another problem with it. The compressor is so/so but not a big deal.

I mix and match my rigs now and then, and I've found my Ampeg B2R head, with the 4X10 HLF with the Hartke 15" bottom is KILLER. A really good mix of the low, deep classic Ampeg sound from the 4x10's with a CRISP, earth shaking Hartke 15" bottom is perfect.

I make the piano "ring" off from across the room when I start to crank the V63!
