Good gig with the 4003

I play in a reg'lar old classic rock cover band and we gigged last nite. For whatever reason I was in a bit of a *mood* last night so I brought the 4003 and played it to its full nuclear threat potential. I played with all the bite, growl and full chainsaw tone that we all know and love. With the sheer power of it, I was dragging the whole band along by a nose ring. They were in awe, and fortunately for me, enjoyed the experience. Sometimes, wielding firepower is a rewarding experience.

Sometimes a band needs the raw power of the Rick to kick em up the backside and show them their potential. I'm in a 3 piece and I'm sure they would miss the bag of wasps that is my 4003. LOL!

Good to hear. I'm in two bands, and I play my 4003 JG in the rock band and my 4001 FG in the more "alternativey" band. Couldn't imagine not, and I tried a lot of other things.

You seem to have very good taste in guitars, but beware, two Ricks will not be enough for you anymore if you hang around here for long

You will want MORE, and you may find some great ones here and elsewhere.

I have only been a member here for three months so far, and I can testify that there could not be a better bunch of guys anywhere than those I have met through this Forum so far!! I have found an incredible body of knowledge and enthusiasm, very helpful and informative advice, and a wonderful "celebration" of these fantastic Rickenbacker instruments we all love and play. Well, thank you all for the warm welcome. I've been poking around here for a while, waiting for a good moment to post. I like the comraderie here very much.
Scott, I switch between the two mainly for tone, but the colors are very much a factor as well. I like having the 4001 in FG for that project for the total "warmth" issue, while the 4003 in JG is perfect for the rock band in which I play it. I do use the 4001 in the rock band every once in a while, for certain songs.
