These make me laugh

Post by rob »

Every time I see an Ebay auction like this one, with a picture and total description taken off the RIC site makes me laugh. Notice at the bottom of the page that the seller requests to leave the "Pay To The Order Of" section blank on the check!!! That's when I died laughing!!!

Robert, have you reported that to eBay? Amusing as it may be, that ad should be pulled!

Sorry to sound stupid, but sometimes that can't be helped...

I hate the thing about copying all the Ric model-specific info directly off the corporate web page. The lack of pix of the instrument for sale makes me uneasy; and the utter lack of any narrative about the specifics (what kind of shape is it in, how old is it, etc.) of the guitar the seller is offering is certainly troubling.

But what's the deal about the "leave the name off the check" thing? Do you feel the seller is attempting to make him/herself difficult to locate? And what would you report to ebay?

Sorry to be dense about this, but the info might come in handy some day.

At least they were not asking to make the check payable to the "Community Assistance for S@#$ H@#$", better known as "CASH".

No, I chose not to report it to Ebay. Do you think I should have? I didn't think about it.

At least no one was dumb enough to bid on it before it closed.

Robert, I would have reported it if I had had the time, simply on the grounds that it was infringing on copyrighted material (plagerized text and picture).

I didn't get that impression from the user ID and the small feedback (8, if I remember correctly), added to that '... leave Pay To blank... ' thing, but who knows.

I've seen countless reputable (and authorized RIC dealer) music stores post the "official" RIC descriptions as their descriptions. I wonder if they have permission for this, or if it's even recommended by RIC.

You should probably leave the amount on the check blank too so the seller can fill in the appropriate sale price after adding shipping etc ... ;-)
