People in the PNW & BC

Post by captsandwich »

I got an e-mail from my friend in Victoria last night telling me his 1978 4001 JG was stolen. I told him to come on here and post up the S/N & details, but if any of you spot a bass on craigslist or local papers/pawn shops, let me know & I'll pass the info on, if John doesn't come in her himself. I feel like my own guitar has been stolen because I bought this bass on John's behalf back in 1983.

Yes, the SN is key. A '78 JG is one of the most common Ricks there is.

It doesn't necessarily have to stay in the PNW and BC area either. So get the SN ASAP.

I'm working on it.
*makes mental note to record s/n's for all my guitars tonight.

Edit: I just noticed his e-mail was dated Sunday and now he's on holiday for a week. I assume he gave the s/n to the local & provincial police, but I won't be able to get it until next week.

When I worked for Ward Music in the early 90's, I used to find our stolen gear in the seedy pawn shops on West Hastings. I'm not sure what that area is like now, but it might be worth keeping an eye on.

It's still pretty much the same Steve.

For what its worth: A fellow forumite on basgitaarforum.nl (a dutch bass player forum) had his bass stolen two weeks ago. Another forumite actually found it on Ebay and immidiately contacted the rightfull owner. He now has his bass back.

Update: John was unable to find the serial number, unfortunately.
On the good side, I spotted this today, went & checked it out on my lunch hour & John purchased (through insurance) this afternoon.

Hopefully he will post up so pics (and join in the forum) when he receives it.

I don't get it... Out for lunch, run across an old 4001. Man, I've only seen one 4001 here in the Zoo. I gotta move to a big city....

Very nice on, btw - tell John congrats!
