Rusted Root?

Post by wormdiet »

Anybody ever heard of these guys??

Reason I ask is this - last night I had to opportunity to see them live. They are a pretty darned good folk 'n' roll group that's been around for around 10 years or so.

Anyways, one of the guitarists had a 325 with toaster, "oven knobs," what looked like a bigsby, desert gold. (at least I think it was DG - with weird stage lighting. . . who knows?)

It sounded very good - but *nothing* like the stereotypical Beatles jangle. Honestly, had I not seen the guitar, I would have guessed semi or full hollow Gibson. He was playing through some Fender tube amp and used a wah occasionally. The problem was, the mixing guys put him too far back in the brew. When the other guitar was playing, the Rick was impossible to hear. GRRR!

John,
If you go to their website Rusted Root and click on Band there is a little image flip book that shows the guitartist with the aforementioned Ric, that appears in the upper left corner.

I saw them during the Page/Plant tour a few years ago, it seemed that they influenced by Dead can Dance at that point, but I haven't heard much from them lately.

Nope, didn;t hear much DCD type stuff last weekend - would have been interesting though. I did get a chance to play a 325 (the natural one with oven-top knobs) last saturday - I was very impressed with the tones I could get from it.
