Any Ampeg SVT II Pro users out there?
I just reactivated my SVT II Pro on top of the 8x18 by dragging it up the stairs to my living room risking my life. This thing is heavier than I ever imagined. I am looking for a classic Rick sound. Sort of like Chris Squire. I would appreciate any detail amp setting suggestions from you guys who use it on regular basis.
I am good with my fingers and I can do it all night !
Do not use the eq circuit. Bass knob about 3:30. Mid about at 11 am - play with it to roll the mids just right. Treble about 11 am. Tone switch on 3 or 4, your choice. Tube gain all the way up. Input gain about 3:00 or 4:00 - play with it. Output to what your ears can stand - don't blow out the picture window!
Bass with the treble cap, all controls up full. Also try bass tone about half up.
That should get you started.

Forgot to add I got one of these to help out the back:

I believe I have both the Ultra lo and hi switches on - been a while since I looked! Drive is the tube gain, mid is midrange, frequency is the tone switch - what range the midrange controls. Master is the output. I haven't tweaked settings in a while and couldn't remember the knob names.
What I try for is the lows and highs to be there, but not a lot of prominant mid as it, for me, gets in the way of "the tone". I believe CS uses more midrange, but I like and get fairly close to his tone with the above settings.

John,
Just plugged in my 4003 with Rotos RS 66LD. I had to back off with the gain to about 9:30. I had too much distortion with the gain up. I also added more treble to about 2:30. I hit it with a pick and it sounds pretty much what I was looking for. Thanks!!!
