Weir Played One

Learn something new every day.
Apparently Bob Weir played a Ric for a short time. Here is a photo of the Dead rehearsing (early '67):

I'm a little unsure on the model name/number.
The author of the book (Grateful Dead Gear) says a 335. But the Bacon/Day book says the 335 had pointed horns like the 330.
The B/D book has a photo of a guitar almost exactly like Bobby's (but with THREE pickups) and says that one is called a 375.

I don't care that much what the number is, I just thought it was cool that it seems everyone picked up a Ric at some time or another.

Here is a quote from Weir:
I remember it did a couple of tricks that were cool, like it had a blend switch, and I'd turn up the treble pickup about halfway and then rhythmically click into the forward pickup and you'd hear this great chang! wop-wop-wop! chang! It was great fun.

It's either a 365 or 375. Hard to see if there is a middle pickup.
Neat shot. I would've never thought a member of the Dead using a Rick. But like you said, Mark, seems everyone picked one up at one time or another.

Author says it had two pickups.
So that makes it a 365 I guess.

That pic was in another Dead book about 15 years ago. I gotta get that Dead equipment book. It's great that Weir commented on it.

Bill, I'm a little past halfway through. It is a very good book. There are a few little mistakes (as always with these kinds of books) but I recommend it for any Dead Head or Gear Head.

Could be but the book doesn't say.
Just quotes Weir saying (wistfully) "That was one of my favorite guitars of that era. In fact, I'd love to get another one of those."
