We are always excited to see a Rickenbacker Blake. Congratulations!
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Okay so I have some odd news on my 12C. While playing it at home (and after a set up) the thing played really bad. Some string were completely dull, (even after new ones) as if there were no life to the g, b and e. You just had to play really hard to get a halfway decent sound out of the thing. The playability of this guitar was really bad. Granted it did sound better on an amp. I also tune my guitars to a high major 7th tuning and it just could not handle that. But it still didnt sound great in standard either. So after much much debate, I decided it didnt play as well as a guitar should for 3 grand so I took it back to guitar showcase. There, everyone took offense (as well as some guys on the official RIC board) to me not liking the guitar so I got my money back and took off to san francisco to a shop of much nicer people on haight ashbury st. I played the lennon casino and a 350V63. Both guitars were great but I ended up going with the 350, it plays wonderfully and has a very unique bright sound. Looks fantastic as well. Thought i'd let you guys know about my situation with the 12C. I do have a picture up of the 12C63 at www.myspace.com/midblake. take it easy fellas.
At least you told the real truth. Not all Rick's are what one might expect from the factory. I have had way too many issues that I had to contend with on my own with brand new Ricks (all basses), from loose truss rods (rattling) and a very poor Blue Boy color that was actually green! All in all I totally love my Ricks, but modifications are almost 100% inevitable when they come from the factory. Have been for me anyway.
Rick bass fanatic. I own and play several professionally. I have a passion for the S models.
Blake, I saw your post over on the other forum. I think you did exactly the right thing--can't imagine dropping that much money and not being happy with it. I've got a pretty open mind when it comes to new things, minor flaws, etc., but it's relative to the amount of money I put out. At the mid-upper end of the guitar spectrum, the tolerance level is pretty narrow.
Glad it worked out for you with the 350--a 350 was my first Ric, and I parted with her very sadly in order to finance a 325c58. Both great guitars, as I'm sure most of the c63s are.
BTW...don't give up on the Casino either--an outstanding guitar!
Congrats!
Bill
