Silly me, I guess I just took all that "keep your instrument in its case when not in use" to heart.
I feel a whole lot more like I do now than I did before

Hmmm ... I do have a spare hygrometer (not calibrated) at work ... maybe it'd be an interesting experiment to see whether that conjecture is true.
