What Artist Put Rickenbacker On The Map?

Great pictures Paul, what is that last group photo from? Kind of sad to think that two of them have passed on. I remember the days when everyone (EVERYONE!) used to talk about the days when The Beatles would get back together, we used to hope, pray, dream, even figure out where they could play, one common place was to rope off the state of Texas for their reunion concert, that was all shattered when Lennon was killed, an era passed. Another era passed when they broke up in 1970. I don't think it was a coincidence that The Hippy movement of love and peace was in tatters by that time either. It was officially over in 1967 the day they marched down the street in San Fransisco with a symbolic dead hippy in a wheel barrow, (I think, Dave W?) but it lingered on until the early 70's. To me they were the spokesmen for the movement which I was really too young to appreciate in it's entirety. When I found out the Beatles had broken up I was depressed for a long time, They had been the biggest part of my life from the age of 11 until the age of 17.
Paul, you did it again - great Fab Pics! Love them thanks!
Bob, it's ironic how the lads are paired off eh!
And guys help me out here! Check out Paulie’s bass. Is the upper horn unshaved? I always thought that the horn went away when the bass was sanded down. Were there two basses? Don't think so! Or has the famous Rick gone through more changes than I thought? That’s definitely the pickguard, you can see the chip out of it. I’m confused!

"The whole bass was not stripped by a professional at all. There were plenty of hack marks and sandpaper gouges . . . The horns just appeared to have been scraped and sanded too much. The front and the back were fairly well done but all of the edges and contours were done amateurishly – taken from the Mark Arnquist interview.
Well this may explain it. Maybe this is old news for some but for me this is new, or at least just realizing it. I always figured that the horns went with the MMT paint job. It looks like, possibly the MMT was removed by a pro or at least by someone that knew what they were doing and then sometime between the McCartney/Ram era and Red Rose Speedway Macca decided to hack away. I have some pics of Paul during the Ram session (from the Ram song book – I was a kid when I got it) and the horns are clearly there. Now why would he go and do such a thing??? Any insight out there?
cheers
