You mean v63 and C64 ... as far as I know they are pretty much the same bass ... except the C64 costs more ... both are recreations of 60's Ric basses and I have a real 60's Ric ... I have played several v63 basses ... they are nice instruments ... I assume the c64 is just as good ... There are others who can speak with more authority on this than I can ...
Other Ric's I'd like to buy ... 4003s8 ... 4003 jetglo ... 4003s5 mapleglo .... 4004cii ... 4004cii5 ... so you see a C64 bass is not even in my top 5

It would be good to see comments from Kenny or John Hall on this.
You may recall seeing pictures of a natural C-ii which only had the maple top over walnut and no maple back, obviously the design has evolved and the Laredo is an older model than the C-ii. Whether or not it has stayed in lock step with changes made to the Cheyenne model is the real question I think.
IF the factory starts producing C-ii's again it will be interesting to see if there are any changes to the design from what I have.

Robert,
I remember the natural C-ii that had the walnut back, it was on Mike Parks site, wasn't it? I'd be very interested in knowing what the changes are to the C-ii and L series basses as well. please keep us posted on that.
Thanks!
GS

"This is the big one, Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya, honey!"
I recall a post from JH in response to someone complaining about the gold hardware on the Cii; he said buy the Laredo if you want chrome hardware it’s basically the same bass. He said, again if I recall, “currently” they use the same quilted wood. I don’t believe however that they use walnut on the Laredo. They are also offering the Laredo in transparent red, green and blue now, which indicates to me that this is so.
As far as the Cii goes – the body is walnut sandwiched by quilted maple. The headstock on the naturals has changed. They no longer offer the walnut wings. The headstock, according to the pic on the web site now looks more like the 4003 headstock. That’s just my observation!
Cheers!

I didn't know they are offering the Laredo in the Trans colors now. Very cool if true. That would seem to make the Laredo a C-ii with chrome hardware instead of gold plated and maple fretboard instead of bubinga.
I just tried to view the Laredo at the RIC website but get back strange text characters instead of the pic and description. The C-ii link seems to work ok though.
