SARD?

Post by lshaia »

Not quite a "Fest", certainly not a "Confluence", but the three of us got together last night with our families for a "Springfield Area Rick Dinner". Great fun, and enough leftovers for all of you!

Cool! Bring the leftovers to MARF II, I am sure we can get someone there to taste, er, test it!

Jeff, that BBR is not a "leftover".

...Is it, Jason?

Lindsay - thanks for organizing the get-together, it was a blast!

Jason - that photo makes it look like you landed a big blue fish, and Lindsay was the captain and me the net-man.

As for the leftovers, we polished off all of the pot-stickers and most of the fajitas today.

Great fun -- thanks Lindsay and Jason!

Here are some things I learned at the first SARD (warning: some non-Ric content); I really like the 4004 series of basses, a Thunderbird is one of the most aggressive sounding basses with nothing more than a flat eq, all of our wives can flat out cook! I really like 4004's, a v63's horseshoe is one of the hottest pickup's ever, a 12 string bass can be played with fingers but is not recommended, and in case I haven't mentioned it yet I REALLY like that 4004!

But in all seriousness, between Lindsay's and Dean's basses I got an opportunity to play practically every bass I've ever wondered about. Dean fell in love with L.H.'s Thunderbird (Dean is the most aggressive player I've seen so it fits), L.H. coveted D.M.'s Stingray, and I almost made off with the 4004 BBR but all the food we ate slowed me down. I cannot wait until we get together and do it again.

Looks and sounds like you guys had heaps of fun! I've been fortunate to meet both Lindsay and Dean and their respective families - oh.... and their wives and kids, too Image and they have some great gear!! Unfortunately Jason and his wife were in serious baby mode when I was there but hopefully next time, mate! The 4004 is just awesome and I can understand Jason's leaning toward larceny..... it's a stunner!!

Lindsay also has a beautiful Takamine 12 string acoustic and a some other beauties that I would have gladly stolen!

I'm pleased that you all got together and I hope it's the first of many, many occasions.

I can vouch for the cooking, too...... lovely!!

Your ears must have been burning, Howard, as you were one of the topics of conversation! We had a great time while you were here, hurry back and meet baby Bickel before he's linebacker Bickel!

Yeah..... something like "Geeeezzzz!!!! That idiot Bishop........." Image

I'll be back for sure, Lindsay - I enjoyed my time with you immensely and seeing Dean's band was waaaay too much fun!!

Maybe next time I'll ask if I can sit in on something....... then again, we don't want to drive the big-spending booze-guzzling patrons away, do we?? Image

Crikey! I could go a horseshoe and Guinness right now!!

Still can't get over the Dana-Thomas house, either..... absolutely amazing!!
