To cap it all !!!

Post by legobeast »

Hi !! I have just put a Sprague black beauty 0.047 cap from the center terminal of the treble volume control to the treble side of the toggle switch. The problem I have encountered is a loss in volume, not a great deal but enough to be noticeable when switching from neck to bridge pickup. Is this normal ? I was going to fit one on the neck pickup but there didn't seem to be a middle terminal fitted ? Have I done something wrong ? Was the cap originally fitted to accentuate the difference between the tone of the pickups when both are selected because it certainly improves the sound and it reminded me of an old 1997 I had with a greater distance between pickups made for a wider tonal variation. Why are they not fitted today ? I am using a 330x12 from 2004 with higains ... Maybe I have asked to much here. sorry !!!

Welcome to the forum, Anthony. The cap you're referring to is the low cut cap that goes to the bridge pickup. You placed it right, but it should be a .0047 microfarad cap. And yes, you will experience less volume from that pickup with the cap in circuit.
