Brian, I would have thought that in 1968 RW's style of playing was very out there and experimental. I can't think of a much more avant gare band for their time.

This was the era of the bass player standing at the back with a big fat tone going thud, thud. The fact that there was a lot of treble and quite fast playing was cutting edge IMHO.

OK, the knob twiddling thing was a bit lame but the sound was good.

Roger Waters is not a fantastic bassist, he is competent. He is a great songwriter, and probably spends more time playing a guitar instead of a bass. He probably spends the most time bitching though. The guy ought to be a politician.

Fun to see Roger playing the Rick, but I kept wanting it to be over!

He certainly has the thinnest legs I've ever seen.

Almost as thin as the neck of his bass...

(BUMP!)

I found this thread while looking for the serial number of Water's RM bass. By now the video has been taken down by Youtool. What was the song? It sounded interesting (in text). Anyone have a new link for the video?

This one? Copy/paste it on youtube as there is some content not suitable for the RRF.

Interesting footage of the '60s mod scene in London, but I would have liked to see more bass! Go figure.

Perhaps, but I am glad to see there was a lot more of Roger and the bass than one usually sees in these things, plus some great close ups and interesting angles, too. 8) Th RM didn't seem to have any neck bow issues at the time given how easily Roger was playing it way up high (him, too, no doubt  ) the neck.

Wacky. I like the bass tone in the song.
