Paul is the best!

I know many will agree with me, but I have to post something about how great Paul W is.

He has recently worked on my 360/12, repairing and restoring many ill advised mods, and even giving the fretboard a vintage radius (trust me on this, big big huge difference in playability!).

I had a show on saturday and needed a new nut, I asked rather late minute, but he accomodated me on saturday afternoon! Then I needed more work on the nut before a gig this Thursday. I was willing to wait, but he had me come over right away on Sunday and he worked on it till it was even better than I had wanted.

This type of commitment is rare, and something extremely special.

I love my guitar more than ever!

So yeah, Paul is awesome!

I think none of us tell him this often enough. Paul is a true one-of-a-kind Extreme Artisan, the like of which may never come again in this lifetime. I am proud to call him Friend. (and to be able to spell his full name correctly each and every time without ever thinking about it first or checking myself afterwards

I agree.... the Curmudgeon is a class act all the way!

I get to admire his handiwork every time I uncase one of my two PW refin guitars, or look at the TRCs and guards on my Annie Rics....

You know, before the 75th, I don't think I ever went to but 2 forums here. The Confluence one and Basses. At the 75th, I met Paul, but since I hadn't frequented many forums, I knew nothing of his talent. I kept hearing folks rave about his work, but in dribs and drabs, it is hard to see the depth of his work. A few weeks ago, I finally went to the beginning of this forum and read the whole darn thing. Now I understand what the buzz is all about! I like "a true one-of-a-kind Extreme Artisan"! It fits him well, IMHO.

I've been fortunate enough to see Paul at work in his 'kitchen' where he does some serious cookin'..... the Kantner 12 string for the 75th and Paul Boyer's 'mink' bass are two cases in point. Quite amazing to watch him in the spray booth also...... very meticulous!!

That's why I have two basses going to Paul this year, it's like sending them back in a time machine to the day they were made, but better. How many bright white checkerboard 1973 4001's have you seen?

And you are SOOO lucky to have him so close, John. Most musicians around the world have nowhere to take a guitar. We are forced to choose between the local GC which has some 19-year-old "guitar tech" with a pair of Vise-Grips, a claw hammer, and a tube of crazy glue; or figuring out how to do it ourselves.

Ah, but can you pronounce it correctly?
Actually, since I studied Polish (a long time ago) this is a slight problem for me. My first instinct is to pronounce names in their original (non Americanized) way.

PS: Someday I hope I'm lucky enough to meet PW in person.
