anybody see this? What was up with Pete Buck chucking his amp? that wasn't very cool.

If you go back and watch the video, you can see that his amp cut out during their first song, Begin the Begin, but Scott got it sorted out for Gardening at Night. I guess he'd had enough by the end of Now I Wanna Be Your Dog.

The amp, once it landed, did tip over onto a couple of people's toes, but it looked like there was plenty of room for them to have moved out of the way. Anytime an angry looking Peter Buck is headed toward you with a heavy Vox amp... look out!

Anyway, I think Peter Buck is easily the most rock and roll thing about R.E.M. anymore. That guy's true to the calling.

Not only did he throw it out of legitimate anger, but at the end of a Stooges song. AWSOME!

Mike Mills was clearly amused, which made me laugh. My wife was totally confused.

I could have done without Eddie Veder's rambling nonsence. Rock & Roll just isn't THAT profound.
I got a chance to meet Mike Mills at the Rickenbacker 75th. He reminded me of someone I'd have hung out with in high school. A genuinely nice and funny guy.

I just don't get why he was involved at all. I taped the show and skipped over his comments, so maybe he explained his presence. He basically ruined the song, too, but I suppose they're friends or something?

I'm cool with eddie introducing the band. He's obviously a fan and a very passioned music fan at that. that said, I thought I should of been up there instead of him.

Personally, I think I should have introduced the band.

My band's first single came out around the same time as theirs. Ira Kaplan, then writer for the Soho Weekly News,now of Yo La Tengo and Peter Holsapple of the Db's both told myself and our drummer that their single and ours were the best two singles to come out that year.

Had we been blessed with the real talent and hard work ethic that REM had, this would have been our first year of eligibility, just like it was for them, and I would have been proud to let say Peter Buck or Mike Mills introduce us so...

Honestly, at that time, I didn't realize that Ira and Georgia were going to develop into the musicians they became.

They were very loyal to our band. In fact I remember a couple of show in the bowels of NJ, that if there were three people there, two were Ira, and Georgia. Georgia's sister, Emily is a fine film maker so, talent runs deep in that family.
