Geddy using his double neck rick

Speaking of Geddy having a sense of humor. He currently amplifies his bass through a line POD which goes streight into the desk.

But because Alex is using a LOAD of Hughes and Kettner stacks, Geddy's part of the stage looks a little empty and so he solved it by putting two big washing machines and a vending machine behind him where the amps would normally be.

Last couple of tours, Geddy has been using a mix of three lines - a Sansamp RBI, a Palmer speaker simulator & and an Avalon U5 DI (much the same as in the studio). No POD though.

The Maytags even have a mic on them.

If you look at Alex's huge stack of H&Ks, you will see no mic. Alex's PA sound actually comes from a mic on an amp off-stage...

I bought the "Exit" album today and have been floored by how awesome Rush was as a live band.

"Xanadu" on that one has a duration of over 13 minutes and not a dull moment to be found.

ESL in my opinion is the best RUSH DVD/Video anywhere. Too bad they didn't release the whole concert. And it was in Montreal to boot !

At some point Rush supposedly donated much of their old equipment to the Canadian "Museum of Civilization" in Hull Quebec as a tax write-off. Included in this were Geddy's double-necks. When the 30th anniversary tour came around, Geddy was going to use a double-neck but couldn't get one released by the museum. He allegedly went so far as contacting RIC to see if a replacement could be built in time, but that didn't transpire.

I worked at the CMC as one of the guys consolidating their collections at the new building in Hull (now called Gatineau, BTW). This was back in the early 90's and I wish we had these artifacts when I was there! (I'd probably have ran over some of my co-workers to get to them!)

We moved over five million objects in a year and a half and there was some cool stuff but, unfortunately, nothing quite as cool as that in the collection.

I'd also be surprised if the Museum wouldn't release one for him to use, as they have a pretty liberal lending policy, so I don't think even the Canadian government's legendary paperwork would have stopped it! Could be wrong though...

Thanks for the links.

According to that article, some instruments went to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland - strange given that Rush are consistently by-passed for inclusion - for two years, making them unavailable when the R30 tour was on. I think that fits with what Geddy said in the interview I read. I got the impression that the excuse was a convenient one.

The Rock @ Roll hall of fame doesnt recognize progressive rock. Thats why Rush and Yes are passed over.
