That Indra shot is one of my favorites. It's too bad they cut off Stu and Pete as I've seen the whole photo and the five early Beatles are all in the photo, the way it should be!
yea... personally I'm glad that George didn't continue to use that one. The larger Gretsch(s) and the 360 looked much better and contrasted well with John's small 325.

For me, George's 425 did not look very good on him. The JG 425 in this picture was originally a FG and purchased in the USA by George in '63... as explained in Peter's excellent article: http://www.rickresource.com/rrp/youwontseeme.html
I disagree... IMO Those 425's, 450's and 460's are some rockin little Rics. Plus with the larger pickgards there have a different look from other Rickenbackers.
I think what might give the 425 a bad appearance on George has more to do with the way he has it slung, as opposed to the guitar itself. If it were strapped any higher it would be hanging around his Adam's apple. But Harrison always strapped his guitars very high.
A edit here: We are also so use to seeing him with a large body Gretsch or the Rick, so it just appears, out of place.

Music is too important to be left to professionals.
What's going on with Paul's headstock here? It's neither fireglo nor psychedelic - looks like the finish has been stripped, and it's down to the natural wood.
The headstock was fireglo before he painted the psychedelic stuff on there, and as Dave pointed out, it's also fireglo, or at least red, after this Sgt. Pepper photo session. The films for All You Need is Love and Hello Goodbye spring to mind. Two more shots:
It's interesting that they're holding the same instruments that they used in the Hello Goodbye video while performing in their Sgt. Pepper uniforms. Could the heads have been added later and the headstock doctored? Did John have his Martin D-28 as early as March 1967? The 'natural' headstock on the bass looks much more ambered than it did when the bass was stripped in '68 or '69.
I was looking around for a picture of George with his 425 that doesn't already appear in Peter's article (http://www.rickresource.com/rrp/youwontseeme.html) .... all I was able to find is this one:
That looks like the 425 he's holding.
And then there is the Maton 55, but that's another story.
