Renaissance anyone?

Post by dluxe »

I got into Renaissance after learning that Paul Goddard was really into Jon Camp as an influence. I have all of their LP's and thought I'd share this clip of Camp with his Rickenbacker.

I have all their stuff. I got into them in '74 and did get to see them on their Azur D'Or tour in '79. My favorite band and bassist of all time.

In a fairly condescending voice, but out of respect, I said,"all right Jeffrey, I'll give it a listen. I doubt if I have heard anything of theirs.

Well, I guess I'll do a search on Youtube as I REALLY liked that song! I apologize for being condescending in thought! Is there one particular album you would recommend as a starter?

Thanks buds!

I've been into them since the 70's. Annie Haslem is a total hottie!

Annie Haslam joins Steve Howe of YES on a version of "Turn of the century" on a CD called "Tales from Yesterday" - CD was worth the price just for that song!

I've got that CD. Patrick Moraz and Rick Wakeman's son are on it too. There are some real good versions of YES tunes on it by other artists as well.

Steve Howe let Steve Morse record versions of Clap and Mood for a day on that CD (listening to it now) as well... you've got to be fairly secure in your musicianship to agree to something like that, IMO.

I'd start with Sheherazade if you want them at their peak with using an orchestra. The music on that album is Renaissance at their best. If you still spin LPs, Mobile Fidelity did one of their Half Speed Mastered series of that album.

I'd highly recommend 'Turn of the Cards' as well.... looks like iTunes has that. Scheherazade is a treat, though.

the double album "live at carnegie hall" actually supasses the studio versions-a great place to start as it covers several of their better albums, live with an orchestra backing-check out "running hard".....i love this band but camp owes it all to chris squire.....
