The Rickenbacker bass sounds like The Stranglers, the vocals sound like Terry Reid, the song sounds like changing the ink cartridge on an Epson Stylus.

The irony is that Spinal Tap was BETTER!. Nice clank though.

I was also struck by the sheer Tap-ness of the whole thing. Pretty dreadful - looked like a band who was trying really hard to establish some credibility after such gems as Little Willy and Wig-Wam Bam.

Never heard of them. The comments on YouTube showed that apparently anything can have a following. To each his own. The guitarist is hilarious. Was he an extra on Conan the Barbarian? Agree on the similarity to Stranglers bass tone (though Stranglers sounded better). The lyrics are very fitting.

Oh yeah, somehow or another "Ballroom Blitz" made it through my personal rock black out period. That was the period when I really turned heavily toward traditional folk music having become bored with rock. It seemed like there was nothing really new during that period, just stuff recycled from other, slightly earlier groups.

Ok, so I'll admit I've heard them. Just hadn't heard OF them. Had no awareness of the band despite hearing those tunes somewhere in time on the radio.

Not me! I just can't be bothered with them. Image

That video reminds me of "Too Fast For Love" era Motley Crue. If you don't believe it, pull up the video of the Crue's "Live Wire" and notice the similarities. I happen to be a big fan of both the Crue and Sweet, so I really enjoyed this clip. Thanks for the link!
