I had read this Brian. It will be interesting to see who follows him. It will also be interesting to see the terms of the deal.

Interesting to see how the corporate octopus of Starbucks views the music biz. It's just another commodity to sell along with their coffee.

aren't they geniuses?

I'll pick up the slack.

Starbucks sells a drug, a logical brand extension is rock music.
This is off the record

Given his recent penchant for making decisions that are risky at best (Heather springs to mind...yuk!) it's obvious that Paul will try anything at least once. I hope it works out for them, I like Starbucks coffee...in moderation of course. Image

As a Seattlite, I have mixed feelings about Starbucks. Starbucks is like Fender Amps, the local independent coffee stores are like Victoria Amps. Starbucks is like BOSS, the local indies are like Fulltone. I'm not sure about this whole Starbucks record label thing. It seems kind of smarmy or something. But I bought that Bob Dylan record they put out a couple of years ago and I'm glad they brought that to the market. We'll see what happens with the McCartney connection. Starbucks or not, I hope he brings his Rick back for the next one!

I agree with Ethan (being another Seattleite). I don't go to Starbucks much and I was so surprised to hear how much money they make selling tunes from their shops.

The songlist for Paul's new album shows that he might be under some amount of corporate influence:

Hey Java
Everybody's Go Something to Hide Except Me and My Double Latte
Happiness Is a Warm Expresso
Magical Mystery Decaf
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Cappuccino Band
I'll Be on My Frappe
Komm Gib Mir Deine Coffee Cup
Bésame Mucho Cream and Sugar
Amaretto Girl
Kansas City/Chai, Chai, Chai, Chai
Mocha My Dear
Penny Latte
That Means A Latte
The Long and Winding Frappuccino
Can't Buy Me Espresso
Coffee (That's What I Want)
Lonesome Tears in My Tripple Caramel Macchiato
