Thanks dude! Added "Alison" by Elvis Costello, "One" by U2, and "Faces & Names" by Dave Pirner tonight. 'Twas a good night. Also ran into an old friend celebrating 5 years with his girl. Small town!

and by "just playin'" earlier, I meant I just play, no singing. Sorry if that was unclear.

I'd love to hear a recording of "Smells Like..." Jason. Any chance of posting that? I'd like to try to play along with it (maybe with some drums thrown in but if not no biggie).

I sure respect your drive to succeed in your business.

Yes, I would love to hear many on that list played on piano.
I'm sure I would be blown away to walk into a lounge and hear those sets being played on a pi-anny.

That is quite the repertoire J dog.

You must sneak in the intro to First of Fifth. Image

I'm too rusty for that one. 13/8 in F# major and Bb major? Yeah, I'll stick to 1 4 5's!

True! Alan's got eyes on. I knew it was someone else but couldn't remember until I googled it the other day. Also learned it's about heroin! Go figure!

So do you sight read these tunes? Or did you mostly prepare and practice ahead of time.

I think if it were me, i'd use a program like Sibelius, write out the melodies, and just go with chord symbols on top.

Um, well, I don't know how to say this without sounding like a showoff, but since you asked, I just remember what they sounded like on the CD or radio and play 'em. Fifteen years of intense ear training have paid off, thankfully.

I could understand doing that to a degree, but you don't bring any sort of notes with you, other than a setlist? It's really a lot of songs, i'd at least like to have that crutch to lean on.

If you can do it all from memory, Bravo!

Going from "I Wanna Be Sedated" to "In My Life" is just a fantastic segue.

Bravo!
