Cables and Leads

Ok - we've had loads of great feedback om strings and amps etc - here's a new topic - does a particular type of lead / cable suit a Rick Bass better than others? - or doesn't it matter?

I'm thinking more mono mode here rather than stereo. Do Rickenbacker endorse anybody?

I use Mogami 2524 cable and Neutric connectors, great cable, very supple and hard wearing.

I had a custom Mogami Ric"o"cable made which has the stereo plug at one and and splits to a Y with mono at the the other, works great and is very supple.

Speaker cables are 14 Gauge Monster with Neutric jacks.

I tried a lot of better cable wire (not Mogami though (which is really good cable)) making my own cables and settled on Canare GS-6 because so much more clarity and frequency response came through. It also has a lower capacitance-per-foot factor. I use Neutrik connectors also.

Canare is great stuff too !!!

I've use Canare L4ES6 and Nutrix Black and Gold XLR's for my Home Theater connections, seven of them !! The colours make it easier to interconnect the various outputs to the correct amp.

Oh and the Video is Canare V3-5C with Canare True 75 Ohm RCA's. Digital connections are via Canare LV77-S.



Just realised I've a lot more Canare cable that I thought !!

I tried the L4E star quad mic cable for my bass but it took out too much upper frequencies. We use the Canare L-4CFB 75 Ohm serial digital cable for wiring the station for digital (video and audio). The Canare true 75 ohm connectors are a really nice way to terminate. I tried the L-4CFB also for my bass and that also didn't pass a full signal. Great cable though.
