HAAAAAAAAA.... Mitch, you're killin me!!! I loved DIVER DAN! At that age all I want to do was be a "diver". Naturally 'Sea Hunt' was a big influence too. Long story short, from age 15-30someodd I did a lot of diving both professionally and for fun.
I'm trying to think what other shows we watched back then. One of my earliest memories is waking up before dawn and turning on the TV before any shows had started (only the old test patterns were displayed). The first broadcast of the day was The National Anthem played to various scenes of miltary might. Then the first show of the day was "Modern Farmer". This was an interesting show for a 5-year-old in Manhattan to watch, but I've always held high esteem for farmers in general... it takes a variety of skills to be a good farmer. After Modern Farmer the cartoons would start.
Interesting... I just found this:

I did the same thing, woke up to watch the test pattern then "The Modern Farmer" folowed by silent black and white "Farmer Brown" cartoons.I also watched,Andy's Gang Captain Kangaroo(remember Mr Green Jeans and Tom Terrific cartoons)Kookla Fran and Ollie(in the 50's)and Shari Lewis.Other cartoon favorites were,Col.Bleep,Spinner and Paddlefoot,Mighty Mouse,Clutch Cargo,Crusader Rabbit(and Rags the Tiger),Rocky and Bullwinkle,Courages Cat and Minute Mouse. Those are most the morning shows I remember.Lunchtime I watched Uncle Fred Scott and after school, besides DD,Sandy and Soupy I also watched Captain Jack McCarthy(Popeye),The Abbott and Costello Show and Officer Joe Bolton(the Three Stooges). My Favorite show was at night "Chiller Theater" with Zacherley

I was raised In SDak so I didn't get ALL of the cartoons. My favorite was Clyde Crashcup but I can find no video of that cartoon. I also liked Tom Terrific.

Modern Farmer!!!??? I thought I was the only one who watched Modern Farmer. Also a little bizarre for a kid growing up in NYC. But there was nothing else on that early in the morning. The only thing I remember about the show was the "bumper card" (the opening logo also used between commercials). It was some kind of farm machinery I guess but looked like a steam shovel to me.
Ah yes, Officer Joe Bolton and Captain Jack.
Saturday shows I remember were: Roy Rogers, Fury and Sky King.
Other favorites were Howdy Doody, Bozo, Sea Hunt, Wonderama and Chuck McCann.
I'm sure there must have been others but I can't remember them all.
