Smith book details what is known, on his page 229. In 1932 there were 28 instruments made, of which 5 were Spanish guitars. Each year after that includes the Spanish guitars as part of the total of 6-string steels.
Total numbers of all 6-string, 7-string, and violins in 1933 were 95, in 1934 were 275, in 1935 were 1288 (wow, is that larger than current RIC annual production today?), and in 1936 were 819 through August of 1936 the rest of the page and the top of the next through 1940 gets more spotty.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

Re: Early serial numbers
I am hoping that John Hall will be able to find some information buried in one of his filing cabinets from the old days that will make sense out of this serial, Graham.
Further, perhaps someone who sees our forum, or register when it returns online, will provide us with the details of their instrument so that we can put it together with the example cited by Graham. We are searching for a pattern.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
