I think Dave got it right: The main complaint about the dvd is lack of (or shortage of) atmosphere! Especially notable after each song- I guess they are more relaxed when they face the reaction of a real audience. Maybe they should have put in a limited amount of people, for the sake of having someone to return a smile and exchange gratitude with! It's not easy to smile on command, and only John manages that on this dvd!
But that said: Every Searchers fan should have a copy!
Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!

Hello Tim. What do you think of the latest DVD?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I've just noticed that "Sugar & Spice " has been omitted from the disc, apart from a few seconds in the medley. This was one of their biggest hits, I can only surmise they were not happy with any of the takes of this song. ????

For Sheena and anyone else, been delayed in posting Searchers version of Running Scared, with Mike Pender,as better half decided to tidy up some of my stuff and I could not find CD with it on, but here it is now.

This is a live recording as Searchers never recorded it.

Thanks again, Roy.
(not bad, really, but could've been much better, imho... the vocals are a bit annoying at times)

I guess Spencer is neither, Orbison has something really special about his vocals (and that's his song, anyway), but i'd suggest his vocals would sound more appropriate, and hoping he'd avoid those "i'm-a-nightingale" tricks...

A while back Sheena I did Del Shannon's version if you recall as a weekly clip thing, Searchers based their version more on his arrangement.

I have a version by The Four Pennies who may mean nothing to you or those Stateside, but they had a few hits in UK, including a number 1 in 60's.

I wasn't very excited when I heard The Searchers were including Running Scared in their set, but at Salisbury last week it was stunning.

Anyone who has seen them in recent years knows how good they are at milking the applause, but at Salisbury the ovation went on so long they had to start the next song before the clapping had stopped.

I was gobsmacked. I had in my mind that it was just a filler. I'll be interested to see how well it goes in Crawley.
