Okay, here's the story. I acquired this from a couple in Labrador, Canada who won it in 1995 a charity auction to which it was contributed by a local dealer. Neither play guitar. They kept it under the bed until a few months ago. The "MIA" sticker is still fresh and undisturbed. When I asked, they didn't want to take off the bridge cover, it is that kind of undisturbed.

I had a red with black trim 4003. It cost me $164.50.

It was ugly so it became the BronzeGlo© Abomination™.

Alan, I still think that it looks a whole lot better now than it did!

Because you mentioned that one, I now wonder whether Paul B. will have a "Custom Colors" section in this thread; yours and his Mink certainly don't fall in any factory-color category.

That's a mighty sharp looking pickguard you're 4003's sporting Alan.

That's a handsome bass, redone from a Frankenstein red to a classy Autumnglo. Very nice indeed.

Time to change colors, and again, we'll do two; the ever confusing Autumnglo and Walnut. Confusing? Yes, as both varied a lot during their run(s), from "dark Fireglo" to light reddish brown to dark muddy brown, from bursts to overall tints, from glossy to semimatte. A lot of people have tried to explain them to me, and I still don't get them. If you have one, post it here for the week of 30 March to 5 April, and don't forget to say which color it is -- if you've figured it out!

You said you wanted walnut, I'm just following directions. This is indeed walnut.

That's OK, John, I should have included the "oil finish walnut" in there as well. Consider it part of the family.

That 330 on gbase is a good example of the light reddish brown I mentioned.
