4001 prices

I bought this '74 (wavy Grovers, red dots)one for 1000 Euro, but it had a cracked neck, which I could fix terminally. Now it is my main player, with the best Rick sound I ever experienced and will get Pauls pre-73 conversion.

I remember seeing, about six years ago, an early 80's split-pickgaurd 4003 for $600 used; last one I saw was $1600 about a month ago. A year and a half ago I picked up my 77 4001 in the same store for just under $900. Now it'd be around $1200 at least. I don't see it stopping, either. I've never heard of an instrument being worth a lot of money one day and then having the value drop a lot later.

Elys, Greg, yes guitars of all brands sell for ridiculous sums here in Quebec, normalcy doesn't apply. Second hand Ibanez Artcore hollowbodies are listed for 150% the price you see them listed for in a store. I doubt that it's European thinking. Just normal greed driven by limited supply (not a lot of dealers around). And hey, if you can get the people to pay the price, go for it.

However, honest deals can be had if you look. I picked up a 2003 JG 620 in perfect condition (not a scratch or ding) for $1000 last November. Not a steal, but not a gouge either.
