The stock jacks are more prone to noise due to the extra contacts that have to be made to connect both pickups to one output. If you never use the Ric-o-sound, do what Jeff does and pop in two new quality mono jacks. If/when the one you use starts to get noisy, you have a second already installed and ready to use.
