Ringo - Other Instruments ?

Post by mikestop »

Was Ringo ever known to have played anything other than Percussive Instruments on any Beatle recordings?

Good Question!

The only thing that comes to my mind is Ringo playing a bit of piano on the movie Let It Be.

I read that he played the organ on "I'm Looking Through You". Though, I believe it was on the earlier take, because I don't hear an organ on the album version.

He also helped play the last piano chord on "A Day In The Life."

Before joining The Beatles, Ringo was one of Liverpool's hottest guitarists. In fact, Ringo was the inspiration for an English teenager named Eric Clapton to first pick up the instrument. Later, many of the famous Beatle guitar riffs - played by Ringo - were credited to either John, Paul or George. This didn't sit well with Ringo and was one of the reasons he left the band to start his chain of beauty salons. The rest, as they say, is history.

Huh, and all this time I thought Ringo's first name was Johnny and that he was an infamous gunslinger in the old west.

That part came after the beauty salons.

When Paul died in a car crash in 1966, Ringo took over bass. A Ringo-lookalike was hired to replace him on drums.

In reality, Ringo started a chain of hair saloons, hence the frequent gunfights...
