A heavy metal rickenbacker guitar

Post by blazer »

I was reading about Grover Jackson's stint with Rickenbacker a few years ago and I was wondering what came from it. Certainly no Ricks with pointy headstocks and Floyd Rose vibrato bridges.

But still, Rickenbacker has one shape that works pretty good as a metal instrument when just flipped over. And that's the shape of the 4000 bass series.

I came to realise it when I saw a picture of Dweezil Zappa playing a crazy custom double neck with the shape of a 4000 bass flipped over.

So what came from Jackson's involvement with Rickenbacker?

No it doesn't.

It doesn't look like that double neck at all, where is the resemblance here? I sure don't see it.

The resemblence is in the horns, i'd say. Bit more exaggerated on the doubleneck then a Roadstar, though.
