Hey Elys,

Even though I consider you a Rickenbacker Goomba (Derived from Italian, meaning close friend, or accomplice, mentor. Actually spelled Goombah-for our non Italian members).

If I told you what I turned down for MY CS, I think you would be surprised, no shocked. I LOVE my CS and I woudn't part with it for ANY (and I do mean ANY) other bass on the market, Vintage or otherwise.

No offense taken. My bass has a THIN NECK, and the sustain is nothing short of AMAZING. The darn thing RINGS out like a piano.

I do remember JH saying something to that effect.

The CS basses were produced alongside the v63 basses and I don't believe they are that different from eachother except for the paint job. When changes were made to the v63, the same changes were made to the CS (Smaller headstock, chunkier neck).

Funny thing John,

My CS is a 1995 and my V63 is a 1988.

They sound COMPLETELY different. The V has more grind, where my CS is crystalline. I love them both, but they sound so completely different. Go figure!

How about the difference in necks, Tony? I would imagine the v63 has a MUCH thinner neck.

You are right John, the V has a thinner neck, but I don't remember HOW much tinner. It doesn't fell THAT different.

I supplied the measurements on the "Measure Your Girth" thread and it was thinner.

But next to my V, the CS is the thinnest of all the other RIC's I've owned or own. I think my V was a fluke, just like my 2005 Monty was, only it had the THICKEST neck of all the basses!

I don't really buy this for a second, but I'd love to be wrong. What the heck, I'll put one of my 4005's up for sale and see for myself. And if it sells I'll probably sell some more of them. Watch the for sale section...
