Ok, Same photo at the link but better quality.
Try this one
Plugged it in in the store after opening the box. My first experience with the vintage tone selector. I quite like that feature. My '74 4001 has such a weak rear pickup and such a strong toaster, that I can't quite get the same tone with it (the '74).
The neck feels thick - maybe more so than my '86 4003S/5.
The headstock looks very thick. Measures almost 19mm thick.
At the factory tour, my flash photos revealed barely visible walnut wings beneath the DCM finish. This one seems completely opaque (or I have maple wings).
Case is stinky! Not the pleasantly intoxicating scent that I'm accustomed to.
Huge frets! Makes the frets on my '74 4001 look like mandolin frets.
Serial number reveals 11th week production.
What else? I don't know. You'll all find out soon enough. I think my bass arrived yesterday but nobody touched it because the boss said so and it was his day off.

Congrats Jocelyn!

...one. Yes Scott, as you know I picked mine up last night. When I read your earlier post I thought that it meant both basses had come in. John was really impressed with how considerate we are of each other. I told him that he didn't know me very well.
I'm hoping yours comes in shortly.
Thanks for the good vibes last night. You're a class act!

No Marc. And not mine, Ted's or Dave's either!
BTW guys...I have a 2006 4003 (with the new C64 neck profile, walnut wings, and non-bulbous headstock) as well as a 2003 C64S. Don't expect the new 4003 necks to be a 60's Rick neck. Both of my above mentioned Ricks have SUBSTANTIALLY larger necks than my early 70's, late 70's, 80's and even early 90's Ricks. The new necks are good, strong and stable. They adjust flat, and have no problem with whatever string you choose. Expect them to be a 4003 neck and not a 60's 4001 neck, and you won't be disappointed.
