I heard THE CORD at a Mets game today!
I was at the final game of spring training today, the Mets vs. Marlins, and at EXACTLY 12:35, THE CHORD rang out through the stadium....and then the played the ENTIRE SONG! It was a LIVE recording (I ASSUME of the Beatles at Shea with all the fans screming on the recording).
It was SO weird to hear that song CRANKED FULL BLAST at a Mets stadium again.
The hair on my neck stood at attention for 10 minutes..Prety cool. I've never heard them do that before...REALLY NEAT hearing those voices & RICS cranking through the stadium.

"IIRC, I don't think "A Hard Day's Night" was ever a part of the bands live set."
Hey John,
Your right, but for some reason, I associate THAT song with Shea, I don't know why. I was born in 1961 and my oldest brother was/is a HUGE Beatles fan. All those 1960's years kind of run together to a youngen!
Yeah, it killed me when I heard Shea was going to be torn down. I grew up in that place.
At least I get to see them every year in Spring Training. Tradition Field is only about 20 minutes from my house. It's a COMPLETELY different feeling than Shea.
Hey, if you ever want to plan a trip to Sunny Fla, I get season tickets for the Spring Training Season, here is a picture from my seats! You are MORE THAN welcome to c'mon on down!

I'll tell ya how I knew I was getting old.
All the circular stadia that were built and brand new when I was a kid are now considered "old" and being replaced - Shea, Three Rivers, Riverfront, Veterans, Atlanta, Busch, RFK, etc.
I can't wait til next year though when the Nationals are scheduled to play in their new park.

My father took me to see the Mets play at the Polo Grounds. I will never forget how green the grass looked. Growing up in NYC I had never seen so much grass in one place. After the game they let fans walk around the warning track. That was cool.
But yeah, the fact that all those 60s parks that were once the modern age are now defunct does kinda put a yardstick to the years that have gone by.

I remember trips to Briggs (now Tiger) Stadium as a youngun. My rememberences parallel Mark's. The GREEN grass and also the red dirt, the emerald green of the stadium, steamed Ball Park franks in steamed buns with only French's mustard. Today it lays delapidated and crumbling in downtown Detroit, just a castoff with echoes of all the greats who played there through the many decades.
A sad story.... http://www.tigerstadium.org/home.html
