and no, I don't mean an ex-member...I mean his harmonic abilities are as important if not more so than his bass playing

i agree. Mills is my absolute fave bassist and he is the "secret weapon" of REM. (to quote Eddie Vedder from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.)

Michael Anthony, the same thing.

Mills got ticked with IBM used Superman in an ad campaign, which was funny because they didn't even write it, and others had covered it previously.

I only liked on album by them, but what a helluvan album...Candy Apple Grey. Mould's Sugar stuff was pretty good too.
