John, the original 381's were made in very limited numbers from about '68 (prototypes?) to '71. They were reissued in 1987 under the name 381v69, so any recent one would be a v69.
Melissa's is pretty clearly a newer one, you can tell from the non-ambered CV and also from the toasters - 90% of the original 381's had first generation non-buttoned higains. It seems like these guitars were sort of the testing ground for Electro's new pickups.
No shame in calling her guitar a 381 - just trying to educate you further on the skinny-stringed thingies.
