Vox 2-12 Cab

Post by sodbuster »

Hey Guys. I'm looking to get some more equipment. i think I want to get the AC 30 head and the matching 2-12 cab with the Vox speakers, I'll probably get the cab first then buy the head when finances allow, Whats the ohm rating for the individual speakers themselves, can't find it in any of the dealer or manuf. sites, Thanks, Brian

Brian: I am no expert on this, however, it would make very good sense if the stock cabinet, of which you speak, would be two 8 Ohm speakers in series for a cab rating of 16 Ohms. This would be consistent with the AC30 Combo.

I see that the AC 30 current head has the following specs "Output Impedance Select (8 or 16 Ohm)."

This would give you the option of having two 8 Ohm speakers in a twin cabinet wired in series (16 Ohms) or two 16 Ohm speakers wired in parallel (8 Ohms).

I am sure that the amp gurus will let us know of other possibilities, should they be practical.

Thanks Peter, Yeah the 8 or 16 ohm option is what got me wondering, I would like to use this cab on other amps as well, but all my other amps are 8 ohms so the two 16s would be better.
