Yes, it is a 4003s/5 modded with v63 pick-guard and pickup surround. (I bought the Horseshoe pickup surround off e-bay several years ago from someone here at this forum, but I forgot who.) I'd still need to switch out the nameplate with a vintage style, for a more vintage look, but why bother....

I had a mapleglo once...

Its tone never appealed to me! And off to sale it went. That said, it did look boss next to the my FG and JG Rickenbackers.

For the heck of it, here's one of my absolute favorite Ricks - sold on eBay within the last year and a half by CME, and formerly belonging to Jeff Tweedy:

Never knew Tweedy used a Ric. I thought he only played beat-up old Gibson acoustics. Very sweet.

Jeff uses mostly old SG's and Jazzmasters these days, as far as electrics go. I never knew he used a Rick either, but I suspect that this guitar was used on "Can't Stand it" from Summerteeth, which has a prominent electric 12.

He uses old Gibson acoustics as well as a Santa Cruz acoustic.

Yes, I know that part, during the chorus. You can do alot in the studio. Of course, live, he never broke it out.

Tweedy played a Ric in Uncle Tupelo. The 420 in the 2nd shot might be his but is more likely Jay Farrar's.

Thanks Bill! Didn't know that. Having been a Wilco fanatic for a while now and snoozed through a Son Volt concert, Jeff > Jay IMO.

How could those boys see where they're going? I'm not jealous by the way! Image
