That husky, crackly voice of hers was very distinctive.
I always thought she was kind of cool, far out and hip. I certainly would not have kicked her off the tour bus if she had come along for the ride.

Someone could do very well today with a remake of "Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma." It's really an excellent song, but mostly remembered for the performance on the single version.

I remember hearing Melanie's voice singing Lay Down on the radio for the first time, when I was a little kid...I thought there was something wrong with the radio.
I had similar thoughts when I first heard Minni Riperton, Joey.......... 'cept I thought it was heterodyne whistle!!
