I THINK the seller is confusing the Mike Mesaro (of the Smithereens) Blackstar model with this Shadow.

Believe that the Blackstar had a ebony fretboard...

Kendall??

Maybe it was owned by a Smithereens band member. Even if I could verify that the Smithereens used the bass, I don't think I would bid a penny more for it.......if I were interested in it, which I'm not.

Jared is right. This is a Shadow. It's not a Smithereens bass, that was the Blackstar. And this is a 4003.

Mike Mesaro's actually played a shadow first, then Ric made him the Blackstar, so technically it's correct.

BTW there were only about 50 Shadows produced...
Jared, the Blackstars had maple boards finished in black with white microdots, the tone is actually a little different than the rosewood boards IMO.

How many blackstars were made ? I think they had a low production number as well.

If they only produced 50 shadows two of them are on eBay right now!
What's up with the finish on this one? Just doesn't look right!

Here's a nice 4003s w/vintage knobs:

The seller has made errors before (they recently listed a 360 WHT/BT VP as a "Tuxedo"), and they are unresponsive to e-mails notifying them of the corrections needed to the ads.

Norm's is right around the corner from me...I've had some of my guitars worked on by them. Nice people.

While the VP (whatever that is) looks nice, a seller with a spam looking handle and 0 feedback is going to have a hard time parting me and my money.
