Scott, it was taken by Alisha at the Museum of Making Music last August. RIC posters were available for purchase before the evening's show, which featured Marty Wilson Piper and Paul Kantner. Chris Squire was in the audience.
Exactly how we could get our posters autographed was unclear. As it turned out, everyone who left their posters behind the sales counter returned to find that they had been autographed already! Because I had carried around my posters all bloddy night, I missed out on the "behind the scenes" signing.
Not to be outsmarted, in true Aussie fashion, I decided to ask Chris directly for an autograph, as he left the auditorium.
The sharpie marker I had borrowed from the sales counter then failed on me. I asked Chris to wait, while I raced back to get another. The second bloody sharpie also failed. Alisha took the photo as I tried, in vain, to get the damn thing working. Shortly after, Chris and he entourage continued on, leaving me with two unsigned posters still.
About five minutes later, another opportunity arose and this time Jerry Juden came to my rescue with a ballpoint pen. Chris signed both my posters, one of which now hangs framed in Dave Pascoe's Rickenbacker vault
So that's the true story behind the photo.
Then of course there's the story about how Chris grabbed me by the nose........
