Julian sells?

It does seem strange to sell your stake in something that would continue to generate a LOT of money for you and your children for the rest of time. I mean, is there a better investment than a share in the songwriting of the Beatles?

Far as the kin cashing in on the catalog, it just seems to me to be the Elvis-ization of Beatles recordings.

You know? At some point there are going to be 50 Beatles releases, most of them compiled simply to make more money. I don't care. I know what the real catalog is. But future generations will probably be left to at the very least scratch their heads as to what the actual fabs themselves toiled to release (what running orders, etc.)

Lately it seems to me Yoko's looking better. None of the other ex-wives or kids seems to be taking a contrary stand on any of it. They're doing the same thing. Lennon had very specific things to say about Vegas, and they weren't good. I'm quite certain if he were around and had a contrary opinion, he wouldn't hesitate to voice it.

And hey, it's not like they're not going to make another gazillion dollars each when they finally get around to remastering the only releases that count, eh?

Michael... the Royal Iris Riverboat gig was great. The low ceiling, close proximity and packed room game it a very personal atmosphere that we just didn't see in any of their other gigs, even at the Cavern.

Here's another shot we took on the boat just before they were to go on. At the time Pete was off somewhere hitting on a bouffant chick. Pete was like that - he'd show up on time and do his thing but would never want to just relax and hang out.

Earlier that week we had seen the Beatles at the Cavern. As you can see, it was a long wait to get in but it was well worth it.

After the gig, we stopped by to say hi to the lads and took this next picture. Again, it was clear that Pete was just not sharing in the constant joking around and antics. John Paul and George were very polite and friendly to us but it we could see that nobody but them were to share in their inside jokes and gags.

At one point at this meeting, John asked me why I didn't have a cool leather jacket like his. My reply was "I should have known better". He laughed and said "Yes, you bloody sod, you certainly should have know better".

Dang... I've just GOT to stop messing with history that way.

It doesn't matter to me who controls all of this posthumous money. If Julian Lennon chooses to sell his shares, that's his choice. What does it matter to us? Why rake him over the coals? Why slam Yoko for being savvy at business (she single-handedly increased the wealth of the Lennon-Ono estate substantially through her personal investment choices), and also Julian for not being savvy at business? Is it truly his lot in life to ensure the name Lennon is preserved in these financial holdings?

Sorry to be so contrary, but I would also be sorry to be them and happen upon this thread. I would wonder where all the hostility came from and then maybe play Let It Be.

Seeing the Fabs back then with Roy Young's piano in the mix must have been really great. I wonder if they ever considered adding Roy to the band.... and here they are: John! Paul! George! Roy! Pete! .... the BEATLES!!!
