OK, so maybe I got a little too passionate about measuring the exact screw size first - I cannot help the Rickpassion that infected me today! Image

Elys: Are the slots you have in your screw sample for taking them out?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Yes, that is the slotted-head version, side-viewed on edge. Rickenbacker by 1972 and 1973 was using the Phillips-head version of the #6 x 7/16 (most likely ordered as a #6 x 1/2) and so the slot would not be there in the real thing. But the proportions of the shoulder and threads are precisely identical to the original Rick screw.

The slotted version was the easiest library object to use with SolidWorks, my computer program for generating these shapes, that's all! Image

Thanks.... Been away in Florida for a few days, to perform at the wedding of my very good friend, mentor, and jam & gig partner Billy D.... It was a wonderful getaway and a wonderful time--but it's good to be back! Image

Elys, these could not be #6 screws. They would be HUGE. (The tailpiece screws on Rick basses are #6.)

These should be #3 X 7/16. You could search all day and not find them in nickel or stainless with a round Phillips head.

But if you do, put me in for 1,000 of the darned things!

This is a picture of me with the #6 screw, just like I was told, only way behind the bass, trying to pound it back out from the other side. Through a post, also.
