The HB1's and HB2's used in the 4004 Cii5's were actually the same pickup internally. I agree with Gilbert in that these basses seem to make pretty good 5-stringers(certainly better than 4003's do). I considered 4-2-5ing one but I want a little more spacing at the nut and bridge so I'll be holding out for my 4001/6 project.

The G-string usually is not a problem to become even in volume to the other strings, as it is a loud string anyway and the swinging characteristics have more amplitudes than the low E-string, for which I would rather anticipate some problems in getting it even.

"Are you getting used to the gold hardware on the mapleglo? I think it's a nice combination." yes,joey-in person the gold seems a lot deeper/richer looking than what comes off in photos.plus,i don't want it to be mistaken for a laredo now,do i? :-) seriously,i like the chrome, but i don't think i will do anything right away.more playing impressions-neck is dead straight, has kind of light rw strings-takes a very light touch.and i am a complete compooterphobe,i have taken pix, just have to post 'em,hopefully tonite...

"Color?"

Blueburst. I couldn't resist!

Thanks for all your input Brian, you more than most have convinced me to come over to the "DARK SIDE".

Thanks John,

Sorry as well, I didn't mean to short change you out of the credit due! You guys are a hell of a tag team!

I didn't stand a chance. Image

It's confirmed, I just spoke to my dealer. Now, all I have to do is sell a kidney and wait. NOW of all times, I'm counting on that back log just a little! Image

And if I don't like it, YOU have first dibs! How's that!?!?!

Woo-hoo!

I think the 4004's are on the shelf until late this year, so you've got time.

You've got it easy, though - i've got a 5002v58 on order that I probably won't see for years!

Yeah,

I kind of came in on the back end on this one, but I know how you feel, I'm still waiting on my FL. THAT I'm COUNTING on the backlog for!

Looks like time to sell a bunch of junk on Ebay and hope I make a few pennies to help offset this one! I'm a patient man, I can wait....I think!

Sorry, couldn't resist! I'll try and refrain from such outbursts, but I don't have a very good track record!!
