Sam Ash no longer a RIC dealer.

While looking for a dealer to get my 660DCM I spoke to a sales drone at my local SA and then had a nice talk with Kenny about what I was told, so I am not surprised that they had to be shut down. Too bad, as I much prefer SA to GC. Seems like this is not an isolated incident, given what John mentioned above.
My heart goes out to those who ordered a 75th anniversary instrument through SA and have not received it yet.

Richard Ash, the CEO of Sam Ash, has notified all store and regional managers of this incident and advised them that we've given them one final chance.
Among other things, he said "The sale of any Rickenbacker product out of North America will result in the immediate termination of any employee involved in such a transaction.
We are proud of our long term relationship with the Rickenbacker company and we will abide by their dealer agreement 100% to the letter."
I think this matter is now closed, hopefully once and for all.

I'm glad that worked out.

Jim: Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's been stated before that authorised Rickenbacker dealers can sell used instruments to other parts of the world without recrimination but perhaps the definition of 'used' is debatable. Unsold, shop soiled or displayed guitars and basses (ie. 'warrantable') are not 'used' - however, 'pre owned' ones are.
"Never eat more than you can lift." - Mr. Moon
Used guitars are fair game for anyone. But as Howard says, games can be played, however, if we see a preponderance of "like new" instruments being sold, we'll still terminate the dealership.
A number of US dealers have lost their franchise for selling to Rics R Us and Snakesound, for instance, by classifying the goods as used. Beyond that, the customs authorities in many countries are becoming as savvy as the U.K. customs people are and recognize when goods are undervalued. A fellow in the North of England learned this recently the hard way.

I hope!
